C is for Chocolate

What to do when you’ve had a horrible morning?  Make yourself some uber rich, uber sinful hot chocolate.  Yes it’s a bit of an oxymoron considering that I’m living in sweltering hot Singapore; but that’s an easy fix.. close all the windows and turn the air-conditioner onto LOW… Brrrrr!


Anyways this recipe is dead easy I had this puppy ready in under 5 minutes.. honestly!

Extra Thick Hot Chocolate

  • 80g dark/unsweetened chocolate
  • 180ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Marshmallows
  • 75ml fresh cream


  1. In a pot add chocolate and milk
  2. Over high heat stir constantly with whisk until mixture starts to bubble
  3. Dilute cornstarch with a little water and add, incorporate well
  4. Whisk fresh cream separately
  5. Pour contents into tall mug
  6. Add marshmallows to taste
  7. Dollop whipped cream on top
  8. Add grated chocolate or chocolate chips to garnish


  1. You can add a bit of scotch or chili powder to the chocolate mixture while cooking to give it a little kick
